Os testes de impacto revelaram algo surpreendentemente óbvio: carros brasileiros não são veículos dos mais seguros.
A Latin NCAP é um órgão de testes e aprimoramento de segurança veicular. Foi criado este mês pela Fia Foundation, que já desempenha um papel significativo na medição de periculosidade dos carros europeus com a Euro NCAP. Hoje, ao ser anunciada no Carrasco International Airport, em Montevidéu, a Latin NCAP revelou dados preocupantes sobre os veículos brasileiros. Se você tem um destes carros, atenção, as imagens podem ser chocantes.
O teste foi realizado com oito modelos já vendidos no mercado nacional e um que está por vir: Toyota Corolla XEI, Chevrolet Meriva GL Plus, Fiat Palio ELX 1.4, Volkswagen Gol Trend 1.6, Peugeot 207 Compact 5p 1.4 – os três últimos em versões com e sem airbags – e o vindouro Geely CK1 (que pelos resultados, seria melhor nem ser lançado aqui). Trata-se de um teste de impacto frontal a 64 km/h, uma velocidade que parece ser baixa demais para tanto estrago observado nos vídeos.
No Corolla, que recebeu quatro estrelas – de cinco – na segurança dos adultos no banco da frente, cabeça e tórax estariam bem protegidos graças aos airbags. Uma criança de três anos, entretanto, estaria extremamente vulnerável na cadeirinha – uma estrela. Daí para baixo na lista, a coisa fica mais feia.
O Meriva testado tinha airbag, apesar da maioria dos clientes brasileiros não solicitar este acessório. Recebeu três estrelas. Algumas peças do painel apresentaram risco de machucar os passageiros e a tampa da mala é um perigo à parte: abriu-se durante o impacto, com o risco de ejetar os passageiros – alguem mais se lembrou dos assentos ejetáveis do 2 Fast 2 Furious? A cadeirinha segurou a criança de três anos, mas ainda assim não foi muito eficiente.
Um dado curioso que se repetiu nos demais testes foi: airbags machucam os pés. Os modelos Peugeot 207, VW Gol e Fiat Palio se saíram melhor em suas versões equipadas com o item de segurança, mas os pés dos passageiros sofreram mais. Ganharam três estrelas cada, duas o Peugeot. As pernas, no geral, foram as maiores vítimas; sofreram com o pouco espaço e o excesso de pecinhas perigosas nos paineis dos três carros.
As versões sem airbag dos três modelos acima, as mais comuns em nossas ruas, foram muito, mas muito ruins mesmo. O cinto de segurança é incapaz de evitar que a cabeça do motorista se choque contra o volante, o que garante ao bonequinho de demonstração uma grande mancha vermelha na cabeça: risco muito elevado.
Geely CK1, se você quer comprar um desses, vai ficar vermelho de raiva
Para quem gosta de viver a vida por um fio, a projeção do Geely CK1 exibe um motorista perigosamente vermelho. Cinto de segurança com pré-tencionadores, não. Airbag frontal, não. O laudo do teste explica melhor o motivo pelo qual nós não recomendaríamos este carro para ninguém: “uma quantidade significativa de colapso da carroceria resultou no deslocamento elevado do pilar A, coluna de direção e pedais. A carroceria não foi capaz de resistir a qualquer carga adicional. A instalação de um airbag neste carro não iria melhorar a proteção dos ocupantes, já que a integridade da carroceria não é tão boa”.
Para efeito comparativo, um Mercedes Benz C Class de 2007 demonstra o que seria o ideal de segurança. Detentor de classificação máxima pela Euro NCAP, o C Class recebeu estrelas até para segurança de pedestres, com seu pára-choque projetado para amenizar os danos às pernas do pessoal que resolver cruzar a sua frente. O cockpit permanece estável, o cinto segura bem o motorista, sete airbags amenizam qualquer tipo de impacto, inclusive das pernas, e o bonequinho sai todo brasileiro, de verde e amarelo. Só assim mesmo.

Hands down, Apple’s app store wins by a mile. It’s a huge selection of all sorts of apps vs a rather sad selection of a handful for Zune. Microsoft has plans, especially in the realm of games, but I’m not sure I’d want to bet on the future if this aspect is important to you. The iPod is a much better choice in that case.
