Caso você não lembre, o carro foi construído a partir de partes de outros carros, uma técnica já consagrada pelo programa: a base foi um Westfield Seven equipado com um motor Ford 1.6, as rodas traseiras vieram de um Mondeo antigo, a caixa de direção de um Hillman Imp, os faróis do Peugeot 207 e o eixo traseiro do Escort Mk II. Os pods traseiros, que acabaram bem parecidos com os originais, foram feitos com dois tanques de gasolina de uma motoneta alemã e um pouco de fibra de vidro.
Tão incrível quanto a semelhança com o carro original é o tempo que Andy Saunders levou para transformar um punhado de ferro-velho em um carro capaz de ser pilotado em uma pista: apenas 39 dias.
Como se sabe, não haverá uma nova temporada de Top Gear neste ano, então quando veremos o DeltaWing de mentira em ação? Junto com as fotos do carro em um caminhão-plataforma os editores do site deixaram a dica de que devem aprontar algo na França: “se você estiver nos campings próximos à Vila d’Arnage, fique de olho“.
